hippie shoes & turning twenty-six

My parents and sister have been in town since Thursday and we've loved every minute of it. We've done all the typical Idaho (and Wyoming and Montana) things... Jackson Hole, Teton National Park, Yellowstone, Hot Springs... it's so fun to have visitors. I haven't used my camera once though, oops, good thing my sister snapped this^ with her phone. I'd like to draw your attention to my feet. More specifically, the shoes on my feet. Yes, they are Tiva's. Yes, my sister teased me all day about them. Yes, hippies in Jackson wear them and yes, I love them. Word.

Now I'd like to draw your attention to the handsome man at my side. Lando turns 26 tomorrow! Man, I really love that guy, he's my best friend and my numero uno. Tomorrow will be spent eating breakfast foods and blueberry pie. Happy, happy, happy birthday honey!

Next week we start moving, painting, carpet cleaning and managing. Bring it.

on this heart

to you:
And after the storm, I run and run as the rains come, And I look up, I look up, on my knees and out of luck, I look up. Night has always pushed up day, you must know life to see decay. But I won't rot, I won't rot, not this mind and not this heart, I won't rot. And I took you by the hand and we stood tall and remembered our own land, what we lived for. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there, with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. And now I cling to what I knew I saw exactly what was true. But oh no more. That's why I hold, that's why I hold with all I have, that's why I hold. I won't die alone and be left there. Well I guess I'll just go home, Oh God knows where. Because death is just so full and man so small. Well I'm scared of what's behind and what's before. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there. With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair. And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears. And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears. Get over your hill and see what you find there. With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.

i have no story to be told

I realize my blog is becoming less and less aesthetically pleasing and more and more discombobulated (yep.) But, I like having these little updates to go back and read. Call me selfish, I'm a selfish blogger.

When I was little I said "just kidding!" all the time. When something was funny "just kidding!" when something was awkward "just kidding!" when I asked someone a question "just kidding!" (nearly as bad as Judy Grimes!) My aunt used to tell me that on my headstone they should put "died this day" and on the back put "just kidding!" which when I think about it now that is kind of a weird way to put it, but I said it a lot. Well now I realize I say "sorry!" way too much. When someone opens a door for me "sorry!" When I have to take dishes to the dishwasher at work "sorry!" when I bump into Lando when we brush our teeth "sorry!" Most of the time I'm in the way, I guess. #MiddleChildSyndrome.

I have been swimming for workouts as of late. I love it, but man it does a number on my skin and hair. I might need to get a swimming cap, will anyone be my friend still?

Something neat happened a few nights ago. Preface: I've been trying to get into a class for 2 semesters now. The more credits you have the sooner you can register, so I kept just missing this class because seniors sign up for it first. I was put on the waiting list last semester and sat through the first day of class only to have the professor kick me out the second day. I'm was on the waiting list this semester again but he emailed me and said "I can't make any promises" with the class availability saying -4/30 seats I didn't think it would happen. Story: A few nights ago I was being an insomniac (it's a problem) and surfing the Internet at 1:30 am or so... right when I went to shut the computer down and force myself to sleep I thought "I'm going to go check and see if that class is open" (why?) It was guys, it totally was. 1/30 seats! What a relief. Graduation will come as planned. Even though it would have anyway, it's nice to feel less anxious. Prologue: The Lord is aware of something as simple as a class I need to get into, I know that.

We've been watching "WWII in HD" on netflix the past few weeks. It makes me feel heartbroken and proud all at the same time. It also totally made our minds up about and name we've mentioned and now decided we will name our first son... yes a WWII show... cryptic!

ice caves

This weekend we went to the ice caves just outside of Rexburg. Holy moly, they were so cool! I wish these photos did them justice. We started at a little hole in the ground and climbed through three different passageways that opened up into big rooms made totally of ice. (The passageways are so small you pretty much just lie on your stomach or back and slide yourself through.) It was so fun. And cold. And our bums got nice and wet, as evidenced below. Your welcome.

i mean my, my, my your like pelican fly

Today my baby sister turns 18! In 22 days my baby sister moves to BYU-Idaho! (Also, my brother and his wife, Mitchell and Britt got in and are hoping to come next semester. We are so excited, Blair-Halter party in burg!) My family had a birthday lunch for her today and they set me a place on the table and I joined via skype. I'm pretty sure I made my Grandpa Caldwell really uncomfortable the whole time and he kept asking me if I was real. Then he asked me if I brushed my teeth today (?) I laughed at my Grandma Dixie saying "Oh, wow! Can you see me?" over and over again, but then I realized I did the exact same thing the first time I skyped. Let it be known that blessings-on-the-food are awkward via skype... and my Grandpa didn't have his eyes closed. Skype is so awesome though. I skyped with one of my best friends, Kasey today who has lived in Hawaii since we graduated and I haven't seen near enough in the past 5 years. I got to see her baby, Leila, who is so adorable and we laughed the whole time.

Our summer has been good, even though our schedules are still pretty much opposite of each others, it's nice to spend more time together then we had. We were both able to go full-time during the break, we've really
really lucked out with jobs here. I can work full time and go to school (and do homework at work) and Lando can work part time totally around his schedule. I really like the people I work with. For instance, a few weeks ago I had a very serious conversation with a co-worker about which Kardashian sister would be the funnest to be friends with. Landon has made a few great friends at work too, ones that will go rock climbing with him after work while his wife is off winning the bread.

Just a few updates, happy August!
