no color clay

Tonight I sat with good friends, eating caramel apples and talking about lots of different things. We spent a few minutes talking about our saggy buns, stretch marks, and broad shoulders. We talked about wishing we could just let go of what we think we are supposed to be and just be what we are. I wish we could see ourselves like we see our best friend. We'd always give ourselves the benefit of the doubt. We'd see beauty in flaw. We'd speak kinder. We'd high-five ourselves after a really hard workout. We'd be gentle. We'd love ourselves more (broad shoulders and all).

I think that's the way we should be seen.

that is exactly the way we should see ourselves

I've been giving myself pats on the back... and not mental ones. :)

But also, this post is making me cry because next month I'm teaching a lesson in RS about divine worth. I've been thinking about it a lot lately. And I've also been trying to love myself better.

Love this kate - I need to print that out, "Let go of what we think we are supposed to be and just be what we are."

i really do wish you could see you like i see you!! that sounds so cheesy but i truly think you're one of the most gorgeous people i know.

...and with that being said, i really do want to have a caramel tree date at my apartment soon.

this is one of my favourite posts by you. ever. and totally something i've been needing to hear.
i think you should design a print of this sentence; "just let go of what we think we are supposed to be and just be what we are." i love that.
so glad you're back. i've missed your posts!

I really like this. I had a similar conversation a few weeks back, but about having grey hairs at 24 haha!

Thanks for sharing. It's a beautiful reminder.

feels to me like girls are making a come back lately, I think we are fed up with being told what we should be. beautiful post.

Well said. It's all very hard being a woman (tempted to say girl, but we're all women here right?).

I'm so glad your writing again! I love it!

Oh how I've been trying to accomplish this feat this past year. I make progress, and then fail miserably, nurse my wounds, and try again. It's a cyclical process really. I wish I could feel about myself how you my dear, beautiful sister feel about me.

Love your equally broad shouldered sister

ditto to the above comments. i think my favorite part might be "see beauty in flaw"... now that's a reminder i could use everyday.

p.s. you're adorable
